My Bio

My name is Jasmine Caldwell, and I’m a candidate running for Mayor of Richmond because I believe in the power of community and working together.

I grew up here in Richmond, and this community has helped shape who I am today. I’m a mother and a small business owner who understands the value of responsibility, teamwork, and listening. I care deeply about creating a city that feels safe, connected, and supportive for every family . From strong neighborhoods, sidewalks to mental health awareness and opportunities for local businesses to thrive.

As a community advocate, I stay engaged with residents, listen to their concerns, and work to find practical solutions. I understand the importance of balanced growth, supporting local businesses, and making sure city decisions reflect the voices of the people who live here.

My experience comes from real life managing responsibilities, working with people from all backgrounds, and showing up consistently for my community. That perspective is what I will bring to the Mayor’s office.

I’m running with a heart for service and a commitment to collaboration. I believe the best ideas come from the people, and leadership means bringing everyone to the table with respect and transparency.

My Key Issues

Environment

Caring for our environment is about protecting the health, safety, and quality of life of our community, today and for future generations. I support responsible growth that balances development with protecting our green spaces, waterways, and neighborhoods. This includes promoting clean, well-maintained public spaces, encouraging smart drainage and flood-resilient planning, and supporting efforts that keep our air and water safe. At the local level, environmental responsibility also means working with residents, businesses, and developers to make practical choices that reduce waste, improve sustainability, and preserve what makes Richmond a great place to live.

Public safety

Public safety means more than emergency response,it’s about creating a city where people feel safe, supported, and able to move through their community with confidence. I believe public safety starts with mental health support, including awareness, prevention, and access to resources that help individuals and families before situations escalate. Supporting community programs, partnerships, and crisis resources helps keep both residents and first responders safer. Public safety also includes safe infrastructure. Well-lit streets, connected sidewalks, and accessible pathways allow children to walk to school, seniors to stay active, and neighbors to stay connected. Sidewalks are not just about convenience, they are about safety, inclusion, and quality of life. As mayor, I will support a comprehensive approach to public safety, one that addresses mental well-being, promotes smart planning, and ensures every neighborhood benefits from safe, thoughtful city design.
